Need to Know
After your ride, head into town and grab a bite to eat at El Maguey on the square. Salem has a lot to offer for a small town with its rich history.
Description
Eagle's Trace contains a series of jumps, switchbacks, natural rollers and bermed corners. This is a fast-paced XC style trail that flows around Lake Salinda. You'll ride through multiple types of terrain, from rocky to hard packed to loam. Eagle's Trace has a lot to offer with its speed and features that are thrown in all around the lake to keep you on your toes.
Start at the boat dock, and start onto the Veterans Walking Trail for about 50 feet, then Eagle's Trace splits off to the left as you head up a quick punchy climb. You'll go through a some of our fun features right away as you hit switchbacks, log skinnys, creek crossings and rock gardens. You'll go through a series of short climbs and descents as you approach the beautiful cedar bridge that was built by the builders Jared Kearschner and Jonathan Spaulding.
After crossing the bridge you'll head into a fun flowy section that has some poppy jumps and natural rollers. Continue on the trail and eventually you'll come to the old gun range off of Martinsburg Rd. Head toward the road through the open grass field. Hop on Martinsburg Rd and go to the right up the hill to the next trailhead (YOU CAN'T MISS IT). Hop on the trail and get ready for some of the views of Eagle's Trace as you flow down the ridge that overlooks a small creek.
You'll eventually start your ascent back up the hill as you see some of our nice berms and bench cut trails. You'll go through some flow as you come down to a firepit (DO NOT USE). The trail continues around the corner right along the lake. There will be some ravine crossings that have been filled with flat rock and you'll eventually make it to the marshland. Find your way through the grass and you'll come to some of the faster riding on the trail.
You'll go through a series of switchbacks and berm filled corners as you make your way down the south side of Eagle's Trace. YOU ARE ADJACENT TO PRIVATE PROPERTY - STAY ON THE TRAIL. As you exit the trail on the southwest side of the lake, you can turn around and hit the trail in counter clockwise direction as the trail flow very well in both directions, or you can hop on the highway and take the road all the way back to the boat dock. If the spillway is dry, be sure to play around on it with some trails style riding. You have now completed Eagle's Trace Trail at Lake Salinda!
