This is a paved connector trail that connect Mineral Point to Dodgeville Wisconsin, and ultimately the Military Ridge State Trail. The trail consists of paved bike trail and streets within the two cities that are connected.

The trail is pretty much open, no to very little tree cover. A lot of the time when on the trail, you'll be paralleling the highways or other busy roads. Once in either city, you'll be encountering street traffic with cars and stop signs/lights.

At the north end of the trail, once you reach Highway 23, you'll be on roads and sidewalks until the Military Ridge State Trail. For the best way through Dodgeville, follow Highway 23 until Polk Street. Head east for a block, then follow S Union Street north. At E Spring Street, turn east again for another block, and then continue along N Johns Street until you intersect the Military Ridge State Trail.

At the south end of the trail, once you reach the intersection of the Shake Rag Trail and Shakerag Street, follow Shakerag Street south, into Mineral Point, where you'll find the northern end of the Cheese Country Recreation Trail.
