Description

Combine this trail with Aurel to Monieux for Day 4 of the Grande Traversée de Vaucluse. This is a long but exceptional stretch of that multi-day adventure due to the beauty of the places crossed and the quality of the many singletracks that mark it.

Climbing out of Monieux, you reach one of the highlights of the Grande Traversée de Vaucluse: the Gorges de la Nesque. The lovely trail that goes up to the Vaucluse Mountains opens up unforgettable views of these most beautiful canyons.

After the sparingly populated area of the Vaucluse Mountains, you now enter the territory of the Luberon Regional Natural Park. From Savouillon on, you'll come across many Aiguiers typical of this drying territory: cisterns carved in the bedrock and vaulted with stone to capture rainwater runoff with narrow carved channels. The descent to Saint Saturnin-les-Apt, passing through the abandoned hamlet of Travignon, is an excellent succession of narrow trails, sometimes technical or fast.
