Need to Know
Bathrooms are only open during softball games. Arches Brewery in Hapeville is great and right around the corner.
Description
The trail can be accessed near the soccer fields at the back right of the parking lot, or it can be linked to the
Evergreen Trail by the connector trail, which starts at the same main trailhead to the left side of the front parking lot. The trail doesn't really get going until your cross the Poole Creek Bridge. From there, it's directional depending, on the day. Either direction is good and has pros and cons.
From the bridge going clockwise, you'll start with non-technical singletrack, undulating up and down a few steeper pitches. After about half a mile, the trail turns down and starts offering some optional rock features with ride-arounds if you're not ready. Soon, you'll find yourself on a series of loose, rocky switchbacks with lots of totally rideable rock gardens in between. There's a substantial rock ledge to negotiate, then you'll cruise downhill towards the first creek crossing.
After the first creek crossing, which is very rocky but still rideable if you pick your line right, the trail begins to become much rockier. You'll start having advanced rock features like 2 foot hight, 10-foot long rock skinnies that you can choose to try or ride around. Even with the rockier terrain, nothing is that technical and the lines are fairly easy to read. You'll zig zag around through several more rock gardens.
At one point, there is a beautiful pond to your left so take a moment to check out nature! Soon after the pond, you'll cross the creek again on a slab of granite that looks slick but is super grippy. From there, it's almost all downhill back to the bridge with lots of optional rock features lining the trail.
