Dogs Leashed
Need to Know
This is a new trail that connects the campgrounds at this park with the rest of the trail system and the visitor's center.
Description
This trail connects the
Blevins Trail to the
Lost Sheep Trail and, along the way, has offshoots to the campgrounds in the park. The trail itself is pretty wide, rolling, and smooth. While I see it as a good beginner trail for running and hiking, it is very well graded for bikes (which is expected since
Moon Rock Trail is very popular for that activity). There is a very slight uphill slope from south to north and it provides a nice way to add some uncomplicated distance to any ride containing a
Blevins loop.
This is one of the new trails at this park (12/2018). It is so new at this point that the posted signs are printed on paper. It is very well graded and has been cleared/widened so that 2-3 people can hike abreast along most of the trail. So, throughout most of the trail, it is wider than singletrack, although I don't know that I would call it "doubletrack."
At this point, I have mostly seen hikers, likely from some of the campgrounds, on this new trail. Using this trail, campers can easily access the rest of the trail system at the park without the need to walk along the road or jump in a car and head to one of the parking areas, so that is nice.
