“Great way to still get in some 'Toona riding while most of the park is used for hunting.”
— Thom Cerny
During the hunting season, only Turtle Back
, Red Baron
, and Whipper Snapper
are open at Allatoona Creek Park and MUST be accessed from the Pitner Road Dog Park parking area. Trail is open sunrise to sunset EXCEPT for the following months due to hunting: September - January, trail opens at 10:00 am.
The Winter Loop (Turtle Back
) is a fast, flowing singletrack trail with fun features to keep you on your toes. The loop includes several rock features, multiple bridges, berms and dips. Riding direction changes daily. Check signs at the trailhead. The trail may close due to wet conditions. Please check the West Georgia IMBA page for trail status.
Bummed that Allatoona Creek Park mostly shuts down to mountain bikers in the winter? Try this loop to shake off the blues.
is great for beginners, with moderate hills and few technical challenges, but Red Baron
is a bit more difficult and includes a number of manmade features (see videos). You can use an alternative line to get around them though. The most taxing unavoidable section is a 100-foot rock climb near the RC airfield.
Be sure to check out the SORBA West Georgia
website as this loop is often used for organized night rides, usually on Tuesday nights. This is the only time night riding is allowed at ACP and riders must sign in and out with the ride leader.
