The best access is from one of the Ward Creek-Stanford Rock Connector off the bike path on Hwy 89. You'll have a gentle warmup before starting up the big climb.

Description

New Stanford Rock Trail is now open! TAMBA built nearly two miles of new singletrack on Stanford Rock in 2018. That lousy, steep, rutted logging road at the top? Gone. The new trail is hand built singletrack. Think flowy, new generation trail designed for fun uphill and downhill. Flowing turns, big trees, and huge panoramic views of the lake. No more pushing your bike up an old logging road trench. The top of the new trail pushed singletrack right to the edge of the canyon with amazing views of the lake and cool rock formations.

TAMBA volunteers logged over 850 volunteer hours and over 4.5 months on this project. Volunteers rode over an hour and nearly 1,800 vertical feet just to reach the work location. We also had three weeks of an ACE trail crew at the end of this project - funded by grant and generous private donation.

This new trail was built by TAMBA (Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association), in cooperation with the US Forest Service-Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. Like the work TAMBA is doing? Please consider supporting TAMBA by becoming a member, donating, or volunteering to build and maintain trails. We have projects throughout Tahoe. We have huge plans for Stanford Rock and the West Shore in 2019 and beyond. Remember that even volunteer-built trails cost money. Support the organizations that build you rad singletrack!
