Need to Know

No bicycles on trails within the Blue Ridge Parkway corridor. You must walk your bike a short distance when you exit the pavement.

Description

Descending quickly, the first section of this trail drops almost 1,000 feet in the first mile. Plenty of root and rock drops along tight hairpin switchbacks. Once down to the river, the remaining trail is relatively flat. There are several creek crossings on this lower section; a few are knee-deep. This section of trail can be very muddy after periods of wet weather.

To access the trail entrance, ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway, pass through the tunnel, then take a right up the slight grade to the trail entrance just before the second tunnel.
