The vehicle gates stay closed but biking and pedestrian gates are open all the time. This trail is very remote and very long.

Need to Know

This trail is extremely remote. You cannot be picked up by someone in a car along this route. Be prepared for the long haul or just do an out-and-back. Cell phone reception is spotty at best. Start at the Big River Trail parking lot below I-55 on Dacus Rd for the best place to leave a car.

Description

Ride 76 miles of gravel road through the levee system of the Mississippi River above steep grassy sides meandering south across the St Francis River Lock and several railroad crossings. It's very easy to ride this gravel hard-packed road but if you plan on finishing it, it's going to take you a while. On the north end you come out on a paved road. It's best to start in the middle where the Big River Trail parking lot is near the Big River Trail: Big River Crossing and Big River Trail: West Memphis Trail.
