The trail extends beyond what is mapped into the southern portion of the Boutwell Hill State Forest. As of August 2018, this section is closed due to logging and the trail is redirected on a horse trail. It is unclear when the trail will be reopened or if it will follow its past path. It is possible that some of the northern sections of the trail may be closed in the future due to logging as well.

Description

The Eastside Overland trail starts in the Canadaway Creek Wildlife Management Area, continues through the Boutwell Hill State Forest, and ends in the Harris Hill State Forest. The trail connects to the forests through roads and in some cases on private property.

The trail is mainly wide, though in some sections, it is more like a singletrack trail. It goes through a variety of forest types. In multiple areas, it passes through spruce forests which will be logged in the future to regenerate native tree species to the area. There are multiple horse, snowmobile, and cross-country ski trails which go off of this trail.

Trail maps and visitor sign-in registrys are found at multiple spots along the trail. Parking is available at many locations. In Canadaway Creek WMA on Bard Rd (2 lots) and Center Rd and in Boutwell Hill SF on Ruttenbur Rd and Boutwell Hill Rd.

We went for a short test ride to test out our gear. There's snow on the ground at the moment so would have been great with fat tires! 2mi — 0h 30m
