Need to Know

Cold beer and good food at Wild Coyote Grill, a few miles west on Hwy 451.

Description

Near Thompson Falls, turn south off of MT Hwy 451 between mile marker 3 and 4. The road crosses Prospect Creek and follows Wilkes about 3 miles to the Wilkes Creek Trailhead.

The first mile or so of trail is easy riding on old road bed. There's a nice ceder grove after the trail forks at mile 3. Good riding until mile 4, then the trail turns into a hump until you reach ridgeline at 5,400 ft. elevation. The trail continues and connects to the CC Divide Trail. As of 2018, the trail is blowdown free, and the upper sections have been recently brushed out.
