Despite the name (or perhaps because of it), the Lumberjack Trail runs mostly through the meadows away from the woods.

Description

The trail is mostly tight and narrow singletrack that apparently gets shared by the cows. The trail is often not very smooth due to hoof marks chopping it up a bit. In spite of the cow's inattention to trail conditions, this is still a fun trail to ride. While in the meadows, it's only moderate climbs and moderate descents.

At the north end, the trail does finally enter the forest and makes a steep uphill climb to gain the Francisco Loop Road. Just before that uphill into the woods, there is a ditch crossing that is spanned by a couple of wooden planks. Be watching for those so your tires don't miss them. That's especially important as you enjoy the fast descent down the steep north end on your return trip.
