Family Friendly SORBA Tri-Cities has held kids events here and many kids enjoy the trail. The grade is fairly mild with some rocky sections. The park has playgrounds, batting cages, and walking-only paved trails too.

Cycling is NOT allowed on the paved walking trails or on the Blue Bell hiking loop.

Need to Know

This trail is shared with hikers and has two-way traffic at all times. Not all trails are open to mountain bikes. Mountain bikers must yield to hikers. Bathrooms are accessible across the street near the lakeside pavilion.

Description

Fly by Night is the first mountain bike trail built and opened at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City, TN. Created in partnership between Johnson City and SORBA Tri-Cities, the trail is a 2.3-mile loop that is filled with twisty singletrack built entirely by volunteers. This trail serves as the main loop of this up-and-coming mountain bike trail system.

The trail begins and ends at the northwest end of the parking lot aka the disc golf parking lot. The trail features relatively mild grades overall with only a couple sections being steep. There are optional features like drops and jumps, but everything on this trail is 100% rollable with a good quality mountain bike.

All but the very youngest of riders can ride most sections of the trail. We see families with kids riding balance bikes on the trails often. The trail is marked very well with directional signage at every intersection.
