Overview

The Reno Wheelmen Twilight MTB Race Series has been held from April until September for almost 30 years in the Reno Area on Thursday Nights. The series is run entirely by volunteers of the Reno Wheelmen, a nonprofit cycling club that has promoted cycling events in the Reno area since 1896. The events have been designed to promote cycling and fitness for all levels of cyclists in the community. Many of these cyclists have volunteered hundreds of hours with IMBA Related Clubs to help build and maintain the USFS trail system through the Carson Ranger District and Washoe County Parks Trail System.

The Reno Wheelmen host 50 plus competitive cycling events every year, Road, MTB, and Cross. The Wheelmen hosted the 2018 USAC Cyclo-Cross Nationals in January at Rancho San Rafael Park. They support racing and members who race with generous race reimbursement as well as discounted clothing. You don't need to be a member to race, but it is encouraged as it is the support from our members and sponsors that allow us to promote these events.

Need to Know

Close the gates. They keep the horses out.

Description

The race starts at the gate on the bottom of Inner Loop trail and follows Inner Loop counterclockwise to the Perimeter Loop Trail to Perimeter Loop/South Park Loop. The course heads out the southeast park gate and follows the singletrack north to the Highland Loop Trail.

The course climbs up the Highland Loop, veers left across a dry creek bed, and follows the singletrack above the water tanks. The course heads down the singletrack that reenters the park though the gate north of the water tanks on Highland Loop Trail.

Rideers follow the Fence Line Trail north inside the park and return on the Perimeter Loop Trail. The course follows the Perimeter Loop Trail south on the dike to the finish. Rideers finish at the top of the hill on the Perimeter Loop Trail after 4 laps (B), 3 Laps (C), and 1 Lap (Jr.).
