This is my go to ride during the week and some short time weekends. It has a well rounded view of the park with lots of MTB challenge for the initiated.
Family Friendly: Bathrooms, playgrounds and many walking trails, cable cars to get to the top or ride down, Small Animal Zoo, Japanese Garden, Small Snack stands throughput, Funicular Ride to the top from Pio Nono.
Need to Know
Park access is free year round. Recommended to ride during light hours. Good parking and access at Pedro de Valdivia and Pio Nono Entrances. At the la Piramide entrance is better to park near Parque Bicentenario of Vitacura and then ride into the park with your bike. There are plenty of water fountains and fill stations on the main roads. During weekends there are bike parking stations at the top of the Park (La Virgen). It is about a 5 mile climb from La Pirámide.
Starts at the entrance of the park by La Pirámide and Santa Maria avenue. This is at the north west side of the mountain. Here you start the climb slowly and will stay on it until you reach the first flat side hill. At the round point you have access to water fountains and usually I take the trail known as Torre 5. This is a fun down hill ride. During the summer is like riding on powder or ashes, very slippery. During winter the mud is very thick and hard to navigate....best time is during autumn with moistened ground and great grip and much better control.
At the end of Torre 5
