Description

This trail is part of Bay Area Ridge Trail project. It extends from Mission Peak area to Mount Monument Peak and even further out to Ed Levin County Park.

The fire road does have a few hill climbs, but it is generally fairly easy. The trail sees low maintenance and is usually damaged by cows after a few rains. Along the way, you may find beautiful views and almost untouched nature from both sides of the mountain.

Nice flat section at the top between Mission Peak and Monument Peak. You'll probably be the only person up there even on a Saturday.

Monument Peak and the view south from the top. It's a whole different world up here in the heat above the marine layer in the summer. Watch out for snakes!

The upper half of this trail is an unrelenting climb, so although it's technically easy, it's very physically demanding.

Approaching Mission Peak from the south. You can't ride up to the peak, but you probably wouldn't want to anyway due to the hundreds of people walking on the other side.
