North Higgins Lake State Park has a nice multi-use trail system across N. Higgins Lake Road from the campground and beach. The three loops combine to make an enjoyable ride through the scenic wooded area.
The parking area for the trails is shared with the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, which chronicles the work of the CCC in Michigan between 1933 and 1942.
The short Uplands Nature Trail takes you out of the parking area into the woods. After intersecting with the Bosom Pines Trail, it loops back to your starting point.
