Note the full First Peak Trail continues further west to enter the Little Wilson Creek Wilderness where bikes aren't allowed. The trail as mapped here only shows the areas accessible to bikers.

Description

This is a short section of the First Peak Trail that is open to mountain bikers before it enters the no-go zone of Little Wilson Wilderness. The trail spends much of its time well above the tree-line as it climbs from Scales Road (FSR #613) through nearly continuous rock gardens and water bars.

At the top, it reaches the summit of Stone Mountain at an elevation of 4,931 feet. The views make this climb especially worthwhile. In addition to hikers, you may have the company of equestrian riders.
