Overview

Chest Pains is a 3.7-mile climb that winds its way to the top of Manastash Ridge. It was laid out for cyclists. PLEASE use this and NOT THE HIKING TRAILS.

The ride winds its way past sagebrush environments with the steepest portion in the first mile. After that, it mellows. The corners are wide so the downhill has flow the whole way down.

Description

Park at Cove Road and head south past the yellow gate onto Chest Pains. Cross the irrigation canal (careful! people have fallen off the bridge) and work your way up the doubletrack about 150 yards. Hook a left and from there it's all singletrack the rest of the way, staying left of Oh Deer at the first intersection and then right of Pink Pelvis at the second.

Continue on Chest Pains past the top of Oh Deer and then the top of RIP Line with a brief dip into the drainage, a big 180-degree turn to the right (west), and another tough climb section through a handful of switchbacks. Ride past the righthand turnoff for Clifford to take a breather before dropping your seat and gearing up to race back down, this time taking the right turn onto RIP Line followed by a left onto Oh Deer.
