This is a fun and challenging climb consisting of an easy, mellow approach then a very steep ascent to the summit.

Description

Park at the top of Witter Gulch. Find the Hicks Mountain Trail across the road. This starts as a doubletrack old fire road. The first two miles are fast with a gradual ascent. The trail then quickly becomes steep and challenging all the way to the high point near the Hicks Mountain summit. About a mile and a half of climbing total can be expected. It is very beautiful and seems remote at the top. The descent is super fun.

The first 2 miles were a blast gradually going up. Then the steep climb began. So fun to bomb down on a unicycle. Not a technical trail.

A really fun non-technical trail. Super steep for the last 1.5 miles to the top of the mountain. Can't wait to visit the trail when the Aspen leaves change color.

Wide, smooth, very steep in places. This trail is a workout because of the steepness at altitude, but not singletrack and not challenging technically. I found it dull
