“The short version of the MTB race (minus Monte Piana).

Race - Sep 16, 2018
A great race in terms of variety of types of efforts and landscapes, with amazing views of the Dolomites. Different types of uphill: long and constant ascent the first part along the Auronzo-Misurina
bike route; short bits of very steep unpaved trails up to Col de Varda. Fun, downhill along singletracks in the woods with a smooth and constant descent back to Auronzo for the last 6 mi/10 km.
Need to Know
During summer (from June up to 10th of September), there is a nice Trenitalia-Dolomitibus Train-Bus-Bike service connecting Belluno to Calalzo via train and then Calalzo-Auronzo via bus (this connects also the others bike routes like Calalzo-Cortina-Dobbiaco).
If you arrive by car, you can park at the fun bob parking lot, just past Auronzo's lake coming from the south. The bike route along Auronzo's lake is prohibited for bikes from 9:00 to 18:00 during summer (too many pedestrians), so you'd better start the trail after the lake.
You can refill water in Misurina (there are markets and bars and also a public fountain at the northern edge of the lake). Food can be found in Misurina or at Col de Varda.
For the first 15 mi/ 25 km, up to Misurina, go along the unpaved bike route Auronzo-Misurina
. The last 3 mi/5 km part is hard, with steep uphill bits (15%). From Misurina to Col De Varda, there are two parts with steep uphills and in between a short singletrack connecting the two. The second uphill part is very tough, 16% average slope for about 1.5km.
The downhill is a lot of fun, some parts are wide service roads, but the rest is all singletrack in the woods. This is very well signed during the weeks prior to the race, not sure afterwards (you might need to download the track or use the MTB Project mobile app
). The rest of the trail is all well signed.
