Family Friendly: The trail is non-technical, and the climbs are gradual. My 10-year-old loves it.
Dogs: Off-leash
Bankhead is a loop within the Quanah Hill trail system. It features a long, fast downhill section, then a climb back almost to the starting point, then another downhill and another climb. The trail is mostly smooth, packed dirt and caliche with occasional roots and short rocky sections. This is the most fun section of Quanah Hill.
The junction with the main ("
1886 Trail") loop is slightly confusing the first time you see it. When you see the Bankhead sign, stay left to follow the Bankhead loop; make a sharp right u-turn to skip Bankhead and continue on 1886.
