Need to Know

This is highly recommended as a descent only. It's just too steep to enjoy going uphill for almost everyone.

Description

Despite having "creek" in its name, this trail follows a ridgeline from the CT - Segment 27 all the way down to the highway and the Delores River. It passes through spectacular aspen forest with occasionally great views.

This trail is extremely steep. Use control on your descent, don't skid out, and try not to damage the fragile trail.

Salt Creek provides some great singletrack riding down from the Colorado Trail to hwy 45 outside of Rico. One section includes Aspen stand where the trees are so tight you think you're in a Star Wars film. I've usually ridden this trail via access from Hermosa Creek TH behind Purgatory. This means you'll have to climb back up via Scotch Creek or similar in order to finish with a downhill back to Hermosa Creek. Nov 21, 2017
