Dogs Off-leash
Overview
This is a good loop that links all but a few short trails together. It is best ridden in a counter-clockwise direction. Most riders park at the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Road 26-12-35.0 and take the latter road to
Steinnon Creek to start the loop.
Need to Know
It is not uncommon for Blue Ridge to have snow in the winter. These trails should be avoided in the wet months (and take a while to dry out) as sections can collect water and the clay-based soil can become quite slick when wet.
Description
This is a multi-use trail system that gets some motorcycle traffic. It is a scenic area to ride, though despite it's elevation, views of lower areas are limited to non-existent. Given the different roads throughout the area, there are multiple ride options.
When ridden counter-clockwise,
Danny Boy has a pretty steep and rutted climb that most riders walk.
Miller's Madness has been broken up by new logging roads, and you sometimes have to look carefully for where the trail cuts back into the woods.
Jigiiyat now has a short gravel-road section just after the start of the trail, but the trail picks back up a couple hundred feed down the road on the left.
Slugfest and
Heart's Content are two of the best trails out there, so they're nice ones to hit toward the end of your ride.
