The
South Trail descent passes a walking path, so be alert for other trail users.
Overview
This is a moderate to strenuous loop with an optional scenic view on the top. Enjoy an uncrowded scenic landscape with an inn at the finish and a nice picnic spot with a stream.
Need to Know
The mountain cabin on the top of
Krim Road is open regularly on weekends. There's an inn at the bottom of the
South Trail.
Description
Start at the parking area near the end of village Iška vas (near an intersection) and then follow the road for "Zgornji Ig."
At the end of village Zgornji Ig, follow the forest road steadily up for the next 3 mi / 5 km. At the next two crossroads, turn right for Krim and follow that road for approximately 1,600 ft / 500m, then turn right uphill on the
Malinovec Connector. If riders feel like they haven't had enough climbing, they could continue up the
Krim Road to a nice picnic spot and great views.
Otherwise, from the
Malinovec Connector, look for the start of the
North Trail on the right. Get ready for lots of technical elements and fun riding with the curves, drops, and jumps ahead. It can be steep in some parts, especially at the beginning. It's advised to use pads and protective gear.
The
North Trail transitions to the
South Trail under a power line clearing. The
South Trail continues the fun from above with more features. It also has some sections full of flaky rocks, so be ready. And if it's rained recently, it can be pretty muddy and slippery. The end of this trail reaches an inn where riders will find a nice picnic area with a stream nearby.
When you're ready, head north on the road back to your vehicle.
