Overview

This park features great trails just minutes from Interstate 20. Bring your climbing legs for this one because the hills are long and frequent. This ride puts all the smaller trail segments together for one entire tour/loop of Bonita Lakes. Expect some roots, rocks, steep hills and nice descents. There are several gravel road connectors on this loop but it is mostly singletrack.

Remember to follow the blue blazes and stay off the greens (horses). Bring plenty of water because the trails are tough and there are no water stations until you finish the entire loop.

Need to Know

Once finished, there is a great gravel grind around the lake on the Gravel Road for a cool-off ride.

Description

From the parking area with the boat ramp, head toward the kiosk and gate. Things get started with a short pedal on a gravel road, look for the start of the singletrack 50 feet ahead on the left. Take the singletrack for roughly two miles.

Stay right at the bottom of the big hill and follow the arrows (blue signs). Climb up and then back down at the top. Take a hard left after you clear the creek bed and conquer the biggest hill climb of the day. Follow this trail all the way until you hit the gravel road.

Go right and climb the mountain along the gravel road, and take a left along a doubletrack at the top of the hill. Take another left in 200 feet and then look for blue arrows at the five-point intersection. Follow this until it dumps you back on the gravel road.

Go right and follow the gravel road for about half-a-mile. Go straight along singletrack when the gravel road turns left. Follow this trail for about 2.5 miles until finally arriving at a woods road. Go right at the woods road and climb all the way back to the top of the mountain. Go left for a fast ride along the gravel road until you find singletrack again on your left in three-quarter of a mile. Follow this singletrack all the way down the mountain back to the car.
