Description [Suggest Changes]

Lysløypa was established in the 1960's as a cross-country ski slope with built in street lights. Due to lighting conditions in Norway during summer, the lights are usually off in the biking season, but during late September or October it's not uncommon to catch a lit trail for a night ride (lights turn off at 11 p.m.).

The trail is generally well kept, though it does divert some from the ski path to avoid weeds and shrubbery that crop up during the warmer months. The trail here has been mapped to account for those differences.

At almost every turn in the trail there is an opportunity to either take a right and enter back into civilization, or take a left for an adventure through the forest. You can easily reach Øvredammen East or Øvredammen North from anywhere in the first half of the trail simply by cutting left into the forest. Around the highest point, most trails that fork off to the left lead to the fun and challenging sections of Øvredammen North.

The highest point is at "Heer" in the middle of the slope, so each way as you ride it starts with a mellow climb, followed by mostly flats or downhill to the end.

In this particular part of the forest, due to artificial snow production and slope preparation, the season for MTB is a little shorter than the rest of the trails here. This especially applies to the circle formed by the main trail and Lysløypa Alternate.
