Family Friendly An easy trail along the shore of Lake Allatoona passing through a historical mining area.

Description

Iron Hill Trail is an easy, wide gravel trail exploring one of the peninsulas that juts into Lake Allatoona in Red Top Mountain State Park. At times, the trail is close enough to the lake that you can easily visit the shore as it passes through an old mining community at the midway point.

Newer riders will appreciate the view and kids may enjoy the lake, but more advanced riders are likely to be disappointed.

It is, however, part of the Georgia DNR's "Muddy Spokes Club", which highlights many of the mountain biking trails in the state park system from the very easy to the more difficult so you must complete it to get your T-shirt.
