Update

A twisty, technical and often steep climb to the summit of McCauley Mt.

Nick Calogero

Overview

Follow McCauley Mountain rules.

Description

This trails lung-busting climbs and technical rock sections will keep you on your toes. From the parking lot, ride past the ski chalet and chairlift base where the trail bears left leaving the ski trail (Rambler) and enters a grassy doubletrack trail. After a short distance, bear right leaving the main doubletrack onto a secondary doubletrack and then bear right again in a very short distance onto the narrow singletrack.

This first section begins to climb almost immediately up a rocky, technical rise and then descends through more rocks. After the up and down technical section, the grade briefly moderates before turning uphill once again. As the grade moderates, the trail becomes more technical. The technical section concludes with a moderate climb. After the technical section, the trail widens and begins to climb more steeply. In a fairly short distance, the trail bears right leaving the wider trail and becomes narrow and very technical.

After this rocky, technical section, the grade begins to increase and becomes mostly sustained steep climbing until you reach the ski trail. Follow the ski trail uphill a few hundred feet and look for the singletrack trail on the right. This section of singletrack winds through the forest, eventually entering another ski trail Challenger.

Follow the ski trail "Challenger" uphill for the final very steep climb to the summit.
