Description

Vineyard Gap takes riders for a steep climb from the Turkeypen Gap Trailhead. This trail is less traveled due to its difficult terrain.

The trail starts with a clearly marked short section of steps on the east side of the parking lot. Once up the steps, mount your bike and continue the climb up and along the ridge for about 1.5 miles. There are a few sections you may need to dismount and push up the hill.

The last 0.5 mile drops about 800 feet straight down to the Riverside Trail (#115) and is covered by a thick rhododendron tunnel. The trail has several gullies and is washed out in many places with two to three foot drops in some sections. The trail levels out to end at the river.
