Overview

This old school singletrack loop uses a great section of the Colorado Trail overlooking Hermosa Creek Trail and a long aggressive downhill on the Salt Creek Trail #733.

Need to Know

Steep downhill.

Description

Park outside of Rico and pedal up the road for about one mile. Head up Scotch Creek - Forest Road 580 until you come upon the Colorado Trail. Turn right (south) and enjoy a cross country style segment with rolling ups and downs for many miles.

Just before the 14-mile mark, look for FS Road 564.B and Salt Creek Trail #733. This trail has a gentle beginning then gets progressively steeper until you kick out on to Highway 145, to head back to your car.

The descent down Salt Creek is not overly technical, but is quite steep and off camber in places. This is a great ride if you're in the area. Aug 30, 2017
Can be done as a big figure eight from the Hermosa TH side. Ride up Hotel Draw to the CT, continue on CT to Salt Creek, drop down to hwy 145, then loop back up via Scotch Creek. Once on top take Stagecoach or Corral Draw back down to Hermosa and continue back to the TH. Oct 9, 2017
