Features Commonly Bikepacked

  • The sections between Ship Cove / Resolution Bay and Punga Cove are closed to cyclists from December 1 to February 28 each year.
  • Some section of the QCT requires a Queen Charlotte Track Land Cooperative Pass for each adult. The pass can be purchased at local i-SITEs or online.

Overview

This ride can be broken up into a sequence of trails over multiple days. It is basically a ride in and out of the bush following the coast of or the ridge between Kenepuru and Queen Charlotte Sound. As mapped this ride starts at Resolution Bay but it's possible to begin at Meretoto/Ship Cove if preferred.

Need to Know

  • Book accommodation and the water taxi well ahead of time.
  • You can bike along the road from Anakiwa to Picton once you finished the ride, or you can take the water taxi from Anakiwa. The ride along the road is beautiful in its own right. But following the experiences along the QCT it is a bit of a drag.
