Overview

A short, technical loop that can challenge intermediate and advanced riders. It's full of rocks, roots, and a few small climbs.

Overall, it's fairly flat with a few nice views. Do not expect this loop to offer a smooth flowing cross-country ride. There will likely be some hike-a-bike involved for all but the most experienced riders. Keep in mind that rocks get slippery when they are wet. It's best ridden on dry days.

Need to Know

$5.00 for parking (unless of you have a Massachusetts State Park annual pass). Many hikers, dog walkers, and horses share the park.

Description

This loop starts with a nice warm-up on a fire road. The entry point here is the fire road to the right of the visitors center. Follow it down and stay to the left.

The fire road will run along the side of the pond (which will remain on your right). You'll enter the woods via singletrack at the far end of the fire road and the majority after remains singletrack with some stretches of doubletrack. The loop itself is full of 6-8" rocks that will make it difficult for many beginners. It's a relatively short loop but offers a great workout and challenge to those who push their limits.

There are several sections that appear impossible or too dangerous to ride and may result in some hike-a-bike. Know your limits and wear a helmet.

I went the reverse direction, and cooled off with the fire road. There were some stretches that were absolutely impossible for me to stay on the bike. 5.5mi
