“A local MTB-specific, single-use (riders only), descent trail.”
— Tony Karzen
Assuming the whole family is of intermediate ability, it offers a nice opportunity with some great views of the city.
Trail is alway open. Just be aware of the section where loggers cross as this can get messy at times, but is usually in good shape.
This is the first MTB specific trail in the Medvednica mountain nature park. It starts from a section of road near the top of the mountain with a fully marked entrance. The trail is not for beginners, but intermediate riders can safely ride it being cautious to check their speed and ride within their abilities.
It is a reasonably well-marked trail with indicators posted along the way at varying intervals. There is a small section that joins with a forest road also used by loggers, so this area can see some trail degradation due to the tractors crossing the path, but this section is a light uphill portion and it is usually in good condition. Following that section the trail continues down with a handful of 'alt' sections that are all well-marked. Some of these section are more technically challenging and should be scouted before running them to be sure the rider is not getting in over their ability level.
Some of the lowest portion of the trail crosses with some other local hiking trails, so it can be easy to make a wrong turn, but they all end up in basically the same place (area of neighborhood 'Gračani'). Overall, the descent is an enjoyable one and offers enough variety of terrain to allow riders from intermediate to expert to enjoy and challenge themselves if they wish.
