“A nice selection of trail with good tough climbs and some fun flowy downs.”
— Rev. 14
Be sure to go to the Cohutta Springs front office to sign in and get a vehicle tag before riding here.
The terrain in some areas crosses broken granite rock with some areas more like kitty litter. A beginner or intermediate rider can do this loop and will enjoy it for sure. There are some nice views as well.
This ride has lots of pines that you'll ride through. There are some areas that are a little rocky with slate. Maps are available at the Cohutta Springs info/check in center for free. They are very nice and helpful in directing you which place to start your ride.
There is some good challenging climbing but there is also some very fun singletrack flowing downs. There are a couple of challenging climbs that are very steep. Depending on what shape you're in, you may be able to clean them or you may have to hike-a-bike. It is a beautiful, fun trail with lots of views of the lake and of the nearby Georgia mountains.
These trails are similar to what you would see out west in New Mexico or Colorado, with pine cones, dry loose slate rock, good climbs and fast downs.
