The new and improved Coyote Classic Cat 3 course.

Tim Davidson

Overview

This is the new and improved Cat 3 Course for the 2017 Coyote Classic race that was held on April 2, 2017. It's a well-designed course with some dirt road to stretch the group out quickly and then a lot of fun singletrack.

The route is also the first lap for all Category 1 and 2 racers.

Description

The course starts at the roundhouse with a fairly slow climb up Pipeline Road. At the end of this road is a 100 ft climb up a hill affectionately named "Big Bertha" that has most riders walking about halfway up. Once you ascend Big Bertha, there is a really fast downhill ride down the north end of Lost and Found that takes you through a scenic canyon with lots of fun dips and turns.

Next is a slow, sometimes rocky climb back to Pipeline Road, which you'll get back on for a bit until your next grueling ascent to the Sotol Forest / Newman Trail connector. The course finishes with a fast descent on Coyote Ugly back to the roundhouse.
