Trail Junction 41-40

Very Difficult
 3.0 (1)

Perhaps the burliest section of mountain biking in Santa Fe; a monster packed into less than a quarter mile.

Description

This trail is a beast. It starts off at marker 41 and goes up a bit to a mountain top. It then starts to descend. At first, the trail is no problem, but once you get to Castle Rock (a rock outcropping on the west side of the mountain), the trail takes a turn for the gnarly.

The trail is steep and very technical; big boulders, rocky drop-offs, and nearly unrideable hazards make this descent harrowing. Climbing this trail is surely a hike-a-bike for everyone...and a tough one at that. Once you get past this middle section, the trail becomes more rideable once again and you'll eventually be able to coast your way to the end.
