Family Friendly Paved greenway. Unmarked singletracks on the sides.

Description

Leon Creek Greenway is located on the northwest side of San Antonio and currently connects Loop 410 near Culebra Road and I10 just north of Loop 1604. This is a paved trail with no obstacles and some easy climbs. It is very family friendly. However, it is the busiest of the Greenway trails within San Antonio. You'll find unmarked singletrack trails off to the sides scattered about.

Current plans are for the trail to extend inside Loop 410 towards existing Greenways near Wolfe Stadium. However, construction on Loop 410 above the trail transit area has closed the trail just north of Loop 410 for the foreseeable future.

On the north side, the city hopes to link this Greenway with the Salado Creek [North] Greenway during the next bond period.

For anybody new to the area, the main trail is paved from start to finish and is about as wide as a road lane. There are singletrack trails off to the sides littered about. There's no signage for these, but you'll see them pretty easily from the main path. People are good about keeping to the sides so passing isn't usually an issue Feb 1, 2017
