Description

The Red Trail marks the beginning of the Ouita Coal Company trail system's main loop. The best flow is found riding clockwise and takes riders through a roller coaster of twisting singletrack.

Only about one mile long, the Red Trail is beginner-friendly and only contains one short, sustained climb. It's a great tune-up to get riders ready for the Blue Trail which amps up the fun later on.

The Red Trail is almost 100% under dense hardwood canopy so the leaf fall can be heavy in winter months. The extra cover can make the trail a little slick and hide rocks and roots. That said, come summertime, riders will appreciate the deep shade provided by the trees, making even some of the hottest July rides much more enjoyable.
