Description

This entire trail is made up of a well-developed dirt road, climbing nearly 2,000 vertical feet to the town of Truchas.

The vegetation along the way changes from sparse juniper and piƱon pine to relatively dense ponderosa pine forest. The trail is nearly 100% climbing, with several short downhills along the way. The trail can be shuttled from Truchas as well, which makes for a long, fun descent.

There are a few stream crossings to watch out for. When the trail forks, be sure to keep right.

I ride this one regularly, pretty good climb, not too technical, the descent is fun. You can park on the side where it intersects the highway. Be aware, people like to target shoot in the arroyo near the start point (including me) but they shouldn't be near the road. Oct 5, 2017
