Description

Salado Creek Singletrack begins almost at the end of Salado Creek Greenway (North) right next to the high tension power line tower. Following this trail will take you up to 1604 and is perhaps the proposed route for Salado Creek Greenway (North) to follow based on markings.

This trail has two challenging spots. The first being a climb up an 18" rock escarpment. There is a spot where other riders have positioned rocks to make the obstacle easier to navigate. The second one is a ~100M creek bed that needs to be navigated. Along with the medium-sized stones that make up the bed, there are also multiple escarpment outcroppings that need to be climbed as well.

There are a lot of trail options here, and riders of just about all abilities will find something to their liking. Moreover, the trail also extends south of Huebner to Blanco, and there are some really fun runs in there. There is plenty of blue and blue-black stuff that this reviewer must have missed -- technical stretches below Cliffside Rd. and on the rock beds that you might not find if you don't know where to look, for example. Also lots of winding and flat singletrack. But a new / inexperienced rider probably should skill up at MacAllister first and/or prepare to walk quite a bit, because here, the rock gardens will punish. Sep 11, 2018
