Overview

This ride is an out-and-back with a small bonus loop. It combines the heart of Androscoggin State Park's interior with some scenic pedaling along the Androscoggin River.

Need to Know

The Old River Road Trail and Bradford Loop Trail are open to motorized users.

Description

Start on the north end of the park and start pedaling south on Old River Road Trail. This route forms the central corridor through the state park.

You'll warm up quickly with a punchy climb before settling into constantly rolling terrain. The trail makes its way east towards the shore of the river, following it for a bit before turning back towards the interior of the park.

Stay on Old River Road Trail as you pass the intersection with Bradford Loop Trail. You'll catch this bonus loop on the return trip.

As you arrive at the southern reaches of the state park, Old River Road Trail becomes more of a technical challenge as the terrain constantly tilts, twists, and turns over rocky and root-laden trail.

When you reach the end, turn around and retrace this challenging section to the Bradford Loop Trail.

This interior loop is short but still very challenging. Expect a good dose of rocks, constantly changing elevation, and tight, dense vegetation.

Take a left at the end of the loop to follow Old River Road Trail back to the beginning of the ride.
