Description

For those who don't have the legs to hit all four corners of this valley in one shot, this loop gives you a taste of all types of riding available. There are plenty of bypasses and add-on loops to be had, but 30+ miles on this terrain is still tough.

Although there are no sustained vertical sections, be prepared to climb and for the inevitable arm-pump on the slick rock. Highlights of this ride include Hiline Trail, Broken Arrow Trail, High on the Hog, and Llama Trail.

Upper Lizardhead Trail is no place for a mountain bike. Expect to hike-a-bike nearly the entire section. Mar 29, 2017

There is no good reason to hike-a-bike Upper Lizardhead. I found out the hard way hours into a big loop. Makes more sense to ride down Dry Creek Road to a L on Thunder Mtn Dr and then pickup the Thunder Mtn or Andante trails. If you do want to hike-a-bike, 2 things to remember: As you start to climb up Upper Lizardhead, you will come to a trail sign pointing left…DON'T go left, go right. (cont.) Apr 20, 2017

(cont…) There was a locked gate near the top, but if you keep hiking up on the faint trail, you'll eventually get around to Upper Chimney Rock Tr. Go right when you get there, even though it may seem like you should go left. I'll never hike this again, but to each his/her own. Apr 20, 2017
