Overview

This is a great local loop for riders who want some speed and air time. You'll have to earn the descent with a steep fire road climb, but fortunately, it passes quickly and riders can soon start a fast descent with plenty of opportunities for optional jumps, small ladders, and some nice large drops.

Need to Know

  • The area is popular with other trail users. Be on the lookout and yield appropriately.
  • There are hip gaps in the back section, some ladder drops can be a little sketchy.

Description

Head east from the parking area to access the fire road. The first .4 miles is really steep and hike-a-biking isn't uncommon. Once you cross under the power lines the road remains at a casual pedal until a final climb to the start of the descent.

On the way down, there's a lot of opportunity for air time with a few small wood ladders and a couple of nice 5-8 foot drops the back of the trail.

History & Background

Built back in the late 2000's by a few mechanics at a local bike shop. Originally these trails were very hidden and the city came in to clean out the original jump packs. More recently the are became popular again after it was re-opened in the Haskell Canyon Open Space.

The parts of the trail at the top with the wooden features are very overgrown. At the top, had to go down a route that is not mapped yet.

if anyone can make the first climb at the east entrance all the way up without hiking give them a damn medal. very worth it once you start the descent
