Family Friendly: The dirt road which follows the Platte river is filled with families, fishing, mountain goats, etc.
Dogs: No Dogs
First couple miles were kind of boring even for a beginner. Dirt road goes along the Platte river. The view during the fall with the changing colors is beautiful, but lacks in the thrill department. The 2 lane dirt road eventually leads to double tracks which shortly turns into a singletrack. The singletrack is a good challenge for a beginner, and a great work out. I made it to the first two check points. The first is called the "saddle" which has a little bench for a break. Continue on, and you descend down for a good 15 minutes until you hit "bear creek" which is a small little creek you can ride through until you get to the next climb. I turned around at this point, climbed about 30 min back to the saddle which is all downhill on the way back.
Overall... the singletrack section was fun and a good challenge, but I could do without the dirt road. I plan on driving a little further south and hopping on the Ringtail Trail
from Nelson Reservoir for my next ride.
