Description

The Ghost Falls Trail is named after a small waterfall found in a grotto along its midsection. The trail starts near the top of the Corner Canyon Rd (Draper-Alpine Road). There is a parking area and pit toilet, and some picnic tables. You access the top of the Ghost Falls trail by riding up the road from the Orson Smith Trailhead on Highland Drive (3 miles, about 900 foot vertical gain), or from the top of the Rush/Anns/Clarks trail complex and following the road around. And of course, you can ride UP the Ghost Falls trail from the lower canyon area, connecting from one of the other trails.

UPPER SECTION: The top section of Ghost Falls is mostly smooth dirt, not technical, winding through the trees, with a couple nice banked turns, bridges, some small whoops, until it turns south down a short bumpy section into the canyon bottom. Super fun! (NOTE: DIRT TRAIL, OFTEN MUDDY FOR A COUPLE DAYS AFTER RAIN, HOLDS SNOW)

MIDSECTION: Mostly smooth, no significant obstacles, intersects with a connector to the Canyon Hollow trail, hang a right to the waterfall. Stop and enjoy the lovely cascade before you get into the technical sections below.

BOTTOM SECTION: Things get a bit more challenging below the waterfall, with narrow singletrack crossing steep slopes, and some short but tricky rocky sections, a steep loose section, and a rocky hairpin before it joins the Gas Line Trail.

Tip: The lower third of Ghost Falls is VERY challenging to ASCEND. (More enjoyable to ride up the lower part of Canyon Hollow and connect to Ghost Falls in the middle!)
