Description
The Western Rim National Recreation Trail is a long ridge top route along the western rim of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The trail goes in and out of the Hells Canyon Wilderness, so only a portion is open to mountain bikes.
The mountain biking route begins in the south at the Hat Point Road Trailhead heads north for approximately seven miles before coming to the Warnock Corral Trailhead. From here, the trail is part of a motorized doubletrack to the Lord Flat airstrip. Be sure to stop to take in the remarkable view from Somers Point looking down the canyon to the Snake River.
Beyond this point, the route goes into wilderness and is not open to mountain bikes.
