Trail shared by Mike Pritchard

A primitive, steep road with great views of Mount Sopris and the Thompson Divide area.

E-Bikes Unknown

Features -none-

Closed to bikes during the winter, Dec. 1 to April 15.

Description

This seldom-used jeep road provides access to the North Thompson / Barber Gulch BLM area south of the Lorax Trail. The southern portion is super steep so plan on plenty of pushing if you're heading up the mountain or wearing out some brake pads on the flight down.

The higher elevation part of this road has some serious Mount Sopris views, not to mention incredible views of the mountainous Thompson Divide area. There are other primitive roads in this area which provide an even more seldom-used loop to the northeast (not on MTB Project, but also noted on BLM maps simply as route 8275).

All of the riding is full-on adventure style that is more about the views and the place than the quality of the route.
