Description

Old White Hill Grade (formerly Old Railroad Grade) is a popular bike-legal way to get to the top of Sir Francis Drake Blvd and skip the pavement. The trail is easy and non-technical except for a short 200-yard tough gully crossing (steep downhill, steep uphill granny ring grunt). It's a fun ride in both directions.

The lower end of the trail starts behind White Hill School at the end of Glen Drive. The upper end of the trail connects to Sunrise Fire Road and White Hill Trail. This trail is a great way to put together a longer ride by connecting to Porcupine Trail and the Tamarancho trail system, San Geronimo Ridge Road, Loma Alta Fire Road, or 680 Trail.

This is a popular trail for hikers and dog walkers - expect other people on this trail.

This trail follows an old railroad grade. The tough gully crossing mentioned in the first paragraph - used to be an elevated train trestle.
