Description

Bobsled is one of the few, if only, downhill-only bike sections of trail in the area. It connects the upper trail network of the BST to the Par Course area.

The nature of the descent varies considerably depending on the shape of the trail. Recently, it appears that it underwent some maintenance to restore the berms and fill the ruts. When packed down and smooth, this trail is excellent.

As the season progresses, it develops deep ruts from erosion that channel straight down the trail and becomes loose from skidded turns as most steep trails do, making it less appealing.

The start is marked by a small post near the Ross Drive Trailhead on the doubletrack that connects over to the BST. It finishes above the Par Course parking by Stewart Stadium. Consider linking the Par Course Trail and Foothill Bike Trail afterwards.

Great fun down hill ride. Take it easy in the banked turns. They are ruddy and if you catch a rut, you are going down hard. Sep 8, 2016

I rode the Bobsled for the first time today. Fun trail but it is steep and rutted at present. Max grade on RideWithGPS was -17.4% which is steeper than I typically ride but that was just one small stretch a little over halfway down. The rest of it is mostly -7-11% and pretty easily manageable, even for an old guy like me. When it's in tip top shape I imagine it's a blast. Oct 14, 2016
